Motorcycle salvage yards are harder to find than you think
Car salvage yards are everywhere. Motorcycle salvage yards are not. Most regions have only one or two, and inventory reflects the bikes common in that area. If you ride a Harley in the Midwest, you have options. If you ride a Ducati anywhere outside a major city, local yards probably won't have what you need.
That's the main limitation of local motorcycle salvage: inventory depends on what bikes have been wrecked or junked nearby.
How AnyPartsHub fills the gap
Instead of calling yards that probably don't have your part, post a parts request with your bike's year, make, model, and displacement. Verified motorcycle parts sellers respond with quotes. That includes local salvage yards, dealers parting out trade-ins, and online specialists who ship nationwide.
You get responses from people who actually have the part, not a list of phone numbers to work through.
What to buy used vs new
Buy used: Body panels, fairings, fenders, windscreens, seats, mirrors, handlebars, foot pegs, gauges, complete front forks, fuel tanks, exhaust pipes, and wheels. These are the best salvage finds.
Buy used with caution: Engines, transmissions, and carburetors are viable if you can confirm mileage and pull condition. Ask for a video of the engine running if possible.
Buy new: Brake pads, chains, sprockets, tires, cables, and anything with a wear rating. These are cheap enough that used isn't worth the risk.
Brand availability
- Harley-Davidson: Best used-parts supply of any brand. Strong local and national dealer networks plus active owner communities mean parts are usually findable.
- Honda: Very broad supply. CBR, Shadow, and Gold Wing parts are widely available. Older models are well-documented.
- Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki: Good availability for popular models. Sportbikes from the 2000s and 2010s are common in salvage.
- BMW: Thinner locally. Usually requires national sourcing through specialty dealers.
- Ducati, Triumph, KTM: Rare in salvage. Specialist dealers are usually the only practical option.
What to include in your request
- Year, make, model, and displacement (e.g., 2017 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R 636)
- Specific part and side if applicable (left fairing, front forks, rear wheel)
- Whether you need local pickup or are open to shipping
- OEM or aftermarket preference if you have one
